From May 28 through 30, representatives from environmental organizations and institutions of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean will meet in La Antigua to participate in the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Regional Conservation Forum for Mesoamerica and the Caribbean. Created in 1948,
IUCN is the world’s largest and most diverse environmental network. It works with its members and partners on a portfolio of conservation projects to halt and reverse habitat loss, restore ecosystems and improve human well-being.
In our feature article this month we hear from Dr. Grethel Aguilar, the Regional Director on some of the topics that will be covered in this important forum.
Mother’s Day in Guatemala is celebrated on May 10, often beginning with loud music and fireworks. But the intention is the same as it is internationally, giving thanks to the moms who do so much every day to make our world a better place.
Prize-winning Chef Amalia Moreno-Damgaard recounts some of her memories of Mother’s Days gone by with On Mother’s Day, Sharing is Caring. She also shares a tasty recipe for Pan con Pierna (open-faced sandwich with roasted pork).
