Happy August to all. Three-quarters of 2022 are behind us. We hope everyone is doing as well as possible. We are kicking this issue off by introducing you to the newly-appointed Conservador of the Consejo Nacional para la protección de La Antigua Guatemala (colloquially referred to as El Consejo). Congratulations to Doctor Javier Quiñónez whose bona fides include a Master’s degree in Monument Restoration, a Master’s degree in Management and Conservation of Cultural Heritage for development, and a Doctorate in Architecture … so, one would say, qualified.

In our ongoing series of Important Landmarks of Antigua, Joy Houston gives us the very interesting history of the convent of Las Capuchinas, or as it is formally known, Nuestra Senora del Pilar de Zaragoza de Religiosas Capuchinas. The first and finest convent built by Master Architect Diego de Porres.

Once again, we highlight the incredible photography of Thor Janson. This time we venture with him deep into the Jungles of Guatemala. His legacy continues.

We also share the photos sent in by various photographers participating in the Photo Contest for August with the same theme, Jungles of Guatemala. We hope you enjoy this month’s Revue.
