Elizabeth Bell receives the gold “Orden Diego de Porres” Award

Elizabeth Bell was honored in a lovely ceremony last night at Capuchinas where she received the highest award given by the Consejo. The gold Orden Diego de Porres was awarded to her for “her untiring work over many years in allowing people to know La Antigua Guatemala through her multiple books and lectures and constant activities in the preservation of the city and its cultural heritage.”

Over 200 people attended and there were several speeches including one by Ms. Bell as well as by Arquitecto Eduardo Andrade Abularach who is the new conservador of Consejo. Afterwards there was wine, boquitas and live music performed by the Bob Porter Orchestra.

We congratulate Elizabeth on her award and appreciate her years of service to La Antigua.
