Once again the International Paiz Festival will be offering some wonderful events in February. On this subject we start off with Elizabeth Bell’s overview of the festival. Highlight articles include the “out of this world” VocaPeople performing on Feb. 2 and 3; also, note in DateBook Feb. 8 songstress Lila Downs promises to bring the house down.
Destination Opera? Natalie Rose covers opera in Guatemala City. That’s right, Live in HD, the Instituto Guatemalteco Guatemalteco (IGA)in partnership with the Metropolitan Opera (live stream performances) offers opera at its finest to Guatemala; this month the IGA proudly presents Rigoletto.
Day trips anyone? Take a ride with Anna Claire Bevan in Motorcycle Diary, and there is a plan-ahead picinic in March at the Finca El Zapote that will be a lot of fun. Fishing? Tara Tiedemann introduces us to Master Fisherman Paustino Cruz Colindres who has been fishing the waters around El Paredón for 45 years.
Nature lovers will enjoy Quetzals and Trogons of the World by Thor Janson, including beautiful photograhps that complete the text; also, there is Flowering of the National Tree by Dr. Nicholas Hellmuth, the blooms of which provide tasty treats for the local bat population.
If you are not hungry now, you will be after reading Dining Out, West End Style by Monish Welcome featuring some of Roatan’s (Bay Islands, Honduras) best restaurants.
